Afton, Oklahoma
Early day trade token from Walker & Livingston store at Afton, Indian Territory.   This store was a big business at Afton for over 50 years.  The store can be seen in the picture above. I remember going to the final liquidation auction sale of this business.

I believe that this view of Main Street is looking toward the north.  The large building on the left was the Dawson Hotel.  This picture is from about 1910.  You can see this same area as it looks today in a later page.

Livingston's department store was one of Afton's biggest stores and handled everything from clothing to furniture, much as some of the big stores do today.  It was located on the southeast corner of what is today Route 69 and Afton's Main Street.  For many years Route 66 ran right by this great old store.  Photo courtesy of Pat Waddle
Palmer and Shelton Furniture Store and the Palmer Hotel.  These buildings were located on what later became Route 66.  The buildings are still standing in 2012.
