Early Day Photos from Century (Douthat), Oklahoma
In this photo from about 1917 we see the mining plants around Century, Oklahoma.  At the left is one of the big trolley cars at the turnaround.  Long building may be a storage building or even possibly have a trolley car inside of it.  These photos are a view of the Picher mining district during boom times.
Another view from the same time shows miner's shacks and mines at Century mining camp.  Note the tent in the lower right side of the picture.  Also, the mine at the right side of the photo is a new shaft being dug and has primitive equipment.  When ithe mine is developed, a new larger derrick and mill like the one on the left may be constructed.  This area was about a mile south of Picher, Oklahoma.
