South of the tracks and on the east side of main street is Kirk's Cafe.  Another drugstore is south of the cafe.  A group of men watch as photographer Bertha Jacobs takes the picture.
The depot for the trolley is just north of Kirk's cafe.   There was also a drugstore near it or a part of it at one time as can be seen above.  A trolley has arrived and is discharging and taking on passengers.
The tracks of the Southwest Missouri Railway at Hockerville.  Here is the track of the interurban trolley that brought the miners from other towns to work in the lead and zinc mines of the Tri-State District.  The poles hold the electric line that supplied power for the trolley.  This section of track is running east toward Baxter Springs, Kansas.

The five views of Hockerville that are shown on this and the previous page are part of a panoramic view.  All are part of one picture that was taken at the same time.  The panoramic camera swiveled on the tripod and a 180 degree wide picture was taken.  You can see a view from the north, then east, and then south in the picture.  If one of these cameras was used to photograph a large group of miners, it was possible for the man on the left end to run around to the other end and get in the picture twice before the photo was complete.  Early day photographers Russell Younger and Bertha Jacobs took hundreds of such photos.
