Photos by John Schehrer
This small mill was built at the old Admiralty mine at Douthat, Oklahoma in the 1960s.  It was used by gougers to mill ore from the mine in the background.

Very deep open mine shafts were found in the Picher district for many years and presented danger.  This one is over 200 feet straight down.
Silent reminder of the past, this old inter-urban trolley was used to transport miners from Missouri and Kansas to the Picher, Oklahoma mines.
Old abandoned railroad depot on West "A" street in Picher stands as mute testimony to rail activity of long ago.  This one belonged to the Northeast Oklahoma Railroad.
