Boom Town Days of The Town that Jack Built
Another view from the Premeir mine tailing pile shows the town looking north from the giant tailing pile.  Notice that it isn't built up too much yet and you can see miner's shacks with litter filled yards and also notice the man on the tailing pile.  I bet his job was to keep that trough open.
    I suspect that this photo and the one above were taken about 1917 or 1918.  This photo shows a view looking north along Main Street and shows mines and buildings that were west of the area in the picture above.  The rooming house with laundry behind it can be seen just right of center in this picture.  That big mill is the St. Joe.  The huge tailing pile that is west of the old city park, today on south Main, was produced at that mill.
