Early Ottawa County Road Maps
A 1937 road map that was distributed at Gulf gasoline stations along Route 66 and other roads shows the Tri-State lead and zinc mining district as it looked then. Many of these small villages are completely gone now. Route 66 divides Ottawa County into half by entering just south of Baxter Springs, Kansas and leaving just south of Afton.
