Treece, Kansas, Picher's Neighbor on the North

    This view looking east over the residences in the town show the primitive living conditions.  This is a typical mining town in the mining district during the 1920s.   Blue Mound is visible in the background and the mine is probably the West Side Mine.
    Another view shows more of the miner's houses and the big two story rooming houses that were common during the 1920s.
      This view from the same photo shows the mines in the north part of Picher, Oklahoma. The houses are in Treece, however.  Notice the laundry drying on the closeline and also that store building at the center of the picture.  Mining was at it's peak when these photos were taken.
