Route 66 Businesses
Route 66 ran right through the center of Afton, Oklahoma and Clint's Cafe and Baker's Cafe were very popular stopovers.
Baker's Cafe was located near Clint's on the north side of Highway 66.  These early linen postcards were sold in these establishments  and in motels along this strip.
Rogers Motel at Afton was an overnight stopover for travelers on Route 66.  When Interstate 44 was opened it bypassed Afton and all of these places died a quick death. Remains of several of these motels can still be seen while driving through Afton.
Early postcard view of Acme Courts at Afton.  There was enough traffic through Afton by auto and passenger train to keep several of these motels in business.
